Are you feeling Bah Humbug towards all the ‘Be Positive’ messages out there?
They encourage you to be positive by trying harder to do this, that or the other in order to gain that positivity BUT how many people ACTUALLY feel positive on the whole?
Not all those attending the motivational seminars because they wouldn’t be there otherwise; would they?! Not those attending therapy/counselling sessions.....Not those attending coaching sessions.....Not those reading positive psychology books.....Not even those spouting all this positivity stuff in the first place Because everyone is thinking that if they are not being positive then something is wrong with them!
BUT my dear friends, SHIT HAPPENS!
And you know which shit I am referring to....the expected day to day shit that wears you down. And the unexpected shit that sends you into a blind panic or leaves you feeling like you could rip someone’s head off!
The book, the seminar or even the therapy session may raise your positivity in the short-term but then what? You go back to being you!
SO, STOP 🛑 TRYING TO BE POSITIVE
STOP 🛑 TRYING TO LOVE YOURSELF
STOP 🛑 TRYING TO FIT IN
STOP 🛑 TRYING TO BE ACCEPTABLE
STOP 🛑 TRYING TO PLEASE EVERYONE
STOP 🛑 TRYING TO BE ANYONE OTHER THAN YOU
BECAUSE ALL OF THIS TRYING IS WEARING YOU DOWN
Small request - TRY TO LIFT YOUR ARM
Did you do it? Yes or no?
So you either did or did not lift your arm - trying did not come into it - it was either/or. Trying is a waste of time: You either do something or you don’t. So STOP 🛑 TRYING!
ALLOW THE AUTHENTIC YOU TO FEEL WHAT YOU FEEL WHEN YOU FEEL IT - without fear of judgement, control or interference, from self or others - and the feeling will pass!
So if you are currently feeling:
Positive - great
Negative - great
Bad - great
Weak - great
Strong - great
Sad - great
Happy - great
Unsafe - great
Safe - great etc etc
FEEL IT. The feeling will pass when you STOP trying to hold onto it or get rid of it!
