WILL FEAR BE THE DEATH OF ME?
Updated: Jan 5
Do you say things like.......
Don’t fear failure
Don’t fear judgement/criticism
Don’t fear embarrassment
Don’t fear weakness
Don’t fear obstacles
Don’t fear helplessness
Don’t fear the unknown
Don’t fear change
I recently observed a post ‘How to have no fear’ using the statements above - WARNING ⚠️ these actually serve to maintain fear! How?
Basic psychology tells us that using a don’t in a sentence is mentally processed in the opposite way to that intended!
If you say ‘don’t fear failure’ to yourself or someone else, the sentence that is ‘heard’ and processed in your mind is ‘fear failure’ because the don’t is ignored!
So, as you can see, the above statements would maintain your fear rather than overcoming it!
Use a reframe instead, for example:
Embrace failures, they are just stepping stones to excellence.
Embrace judgements, after all, they are just a projection from the other person.
Embrace embarrassment, and accept your vulnerability, you are human after all!
Embrace weakness, because through acknowledging your limitations, you gain emotional strength.
Embrace obstacles, for they help you gain satisfaction once overcome.
Embrace helplessness, by asking for support, allowing someone else to feel good through benevolence.
Embrace the unknown, because this is where all your dreams and life adventures
Embrace change, because without it the beautiful butterfly can never emerge triumphantly.
